Steel Options for the Garberg
Steel Options for the Garberg
Morakniv Garberg (S) – Swedish Stainless Steel
The Garberg is available in Swedish stainless steel (14C28N). Compared to carbon steel, stainless steel requires less maintenance and has better edge retention, stays sharp longer. It is also tougher and more resistant to breakage. Rockwell hardness: 58 HRC.
Morakniv Garberg (C) – Black Carbon Steel with DLC Coating
Garberg BlackBlade (C) features a thick carbon steel (C100S) blade with a protective DLC coating (BlackBlade). Carbon steel is easier to sharpen than stainless steel but requires more maintenance as it is more prone to rust in humid environments. The protective DLC coating helps prevent rust and minimizes reflections on the blade. Rockwell hardness: 57,5 HRC.
Note: Carbon steel is more susceptible to rust in humid environments—wipe and oil the blade after use.
Both versions of the Garberg feature a 3.2 mm thick blade and a un-polished spine compatible with ferro rods.

Our coating covers the entire blade and is extra thin, ensuring that sharpness, precision, and hardness remain unchanged.
The black DLC coating not only protects against rust but also makes the knife more discreet in the field. Since the black coating prevents reflections and glare, the knife is well-suited for military use.
