Morakniv launches ”The King’s Knife” in a limited edition

This year, Morakniv highlights that the H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf in 2023 celebrates 50 years as Sweden’s Head of State. This year also marks 500 years of Sweden as an independent nation. Morakniv has a long history of being appointed purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden, an honorary award given to companies as proof that the company’s products or services are appreciated by members of the Royal. Family.

On June 6, Morakniv is launching a specific knife named The King’s Knife. It is produced in a limited edition of 1 523 uniquely numbered items to highlight the year 1523 when Gustav Vasa was elected the king of Sweden, which eventually led to the dissolution of the Kalmar Union, whereafter Sweden became an independent nation.

“To highlight and in various ways honour our history is a vital part of our DNA”, Johan Burtus, CEO at Morakniv, explains. “During the years, we have accomplished a variety of product launches to memorize certain dates that we connect to throughout our long history. As purveyor to the court, we are delighted to take part in this very important celebration.”

The King’s Knife carries obvious similarities with Morakniv’s design. A barrel shaped curly birch handle has been equipped with a steel ferrule in golden colour and assembled to a laser engraved blade made of recycled high quality Swedish stainless steel. The knife is further equipped with a navy-blue sheath, carrying the Dalecarlia coat of arms symbol. The King’s Knife is available for purchase at morakniv.se and in the Morakniv Concept Store in Mora as of June 6, 2023.

”Don’t wait too long to make your purchase, as the edition is strictly limited. There is only one opportunity to get a sample of this knife”, Johan Burtus summarizes.

A Morakniv is always made in Mora

The journey for Morakniv begins in 1891 when Frost-Erik Erson returned home to the village Östnor in Mora after four years in North America. When he started his timber sledge factory, the first seed was sown for what would eventually become the company and brand Morakniv as we know it today. In the beginning, Frost-Erik only manufactured knives for the factory’s internal use, but production would soon grow and more and more knives could be sent out in both Sweden and the world. Today, Morakniv has sales exceeding 200 MSEK, of which approximately 70% are export sales
