Morakniv Color of the Year 2025

10 Years of Color of the Year: From Global Trends to Our Home in Dalarna

10 Years of Color of the Year: From Global Trends to Our Home in Dalarna

This year, the Color of the Year concept celebrates its 10th anniversary, and never before have the color choices for the 2025 edition been as perfectly aligned as they are now. Since its inception, this vibrant knife series has been an important part of our range, designed to bring a more personal touch to craft knives in an otherwise function-driven market. The initiative has even resulted in a collector culture among users, where past years’ color combinations are highly sought after on the secondhand market.

Color of the Year 2025: Siljan Blue/Dala Red™

Close to the bustling streets of Mora, lake Siljan stretches out like a shimmering blue pearl in the heart of Dalarna. By the boathouses along Siljan’s clear blue waters, you are greeted by fresh winds carrying the scent of tar in a beautiful landscape, where dala red cottages extend as far as the eye can see. Throughout the ages, this region has preserved craft traditions passed down through generations of settlers. Here, you find a sense of coming home that is hard to describe but easy to feel.

“Dalarna has a rich tradition of color and design, especially through the iconic painting technique of kurbits, which still adorns buildings and furniture today. A few years ago, we decided to build on this legacy by drawing inspiration from our beloved Mora. By giving our most popular craft knives new colors, we aim to strengthen the connection between our beautiful homeland and the user, who proudly carries a piece of Dalarna with them – a place to always long for,” says Pia Frick-Larsson, Area Sales Manager at Morakniv.

Morakniv Basic 511 & 546 Color of the Year 2025 will only be manufactured in 2025.
