I hike, cycle tour and ski tour on multi-day/week/month trips and I needed a lightweight knife that is strong enough not to fail (it’s happened) and is as light as possible given the weight restriction I placed on the choice. I settled upon this knife as I have a Companion already and it is a great allround champ of a knife, I had a Bushcraft Black but had never gelled with that knife for some reason (maybe the like-it-or-hate-it sheath) still I thought that I would give the Companion HD a shot.
I’m glad I did, what a knife, incredibly strong while still lightweight, I love the steel, the sheath has a real thumb ramp on it and holds the knife very well, the clip is good and works well but as I modify mine and attach a nylon belt loop to make it a dangler style, I can’t speak to it. The handle is awesome, beefier than the standard Companion it offers great grip and fits the hand really well, even with Winter mitts on, no worries here. As an outdoors man’s/bushcrafter’s knife this one is a real contender for the best allrounder and is just a steal for the price. Hugely recommend this knife.

I GOT THIS KNIFE FROM REI, IT WAS FROM THEIR USED SALE AND I LOVE IT MINT CONDITION! EXTREMELY SHARP. I LOVE THE BELT HOLDER. GREAT KNIFE.

I decided switch from a CRKT primary blade for my solo camps, fishing, and other things aiming those. I’ve put this stainless model through hell, I’ve had it about 13 months now and the only thing I regret is not buying the heavy duty sheath instead of the regular. 4 stars because it did lose its edge, a good amount of it, granted I have cut SO much with it so far. After the first month of usage, it was so sharp I could cut a receipt from the store just pinching it with two fingers and sliding the blade down it. Razor sharp for a $20 (or 16 pound knife I suppose?) knife. I’ll be sticking with my Morakniv’s for the time being, next will be a dedicated cooking blade among a couple of other duty blades from them. Wonderful product, I’m an American and I value hand-made or just simply good design, high quality blades such as these. You can’t go wrong.
