The Nusnäs Knife – for carving Dala horses
The Woodcarving Knife 105 (LC) is a favorite among the carvers in Nusnäs who craft traditional Swedish Dala horses. It’s larger than many other woodcarving knives and features a shaped birch handle with a finger guard for better grip and precision. The 2.7 mm thick laminated carbon steel blade withstands lateral forces and maintains long-lasting sharpness. A full rat-tail tang adds strength and stability for confident carving.
A larger knife with a better grip
With its 84 mm narrow, pointed blade, the 105 (LC) lets you reach into fine details while carving. The contoured birch handle includes a finger guard for added safety and comfort, especially during long sessions. The full rat-tail tang design ensures powerful, stable cuts and dependable control.
Tough laminated carbon steel, easy to maintain
The 2.7 mm blade is crafted from French laminated carbon steel (100CR6), combining a tough carbon steel core with softer outer layers. It shares the same blade as the 106 (LC), but on the 105 (LC), the blade is embedded deeper into the handle for added support. After heat treatment in our Mora factory, the blade reaches a hardness of 58.5 HRC – ensuring strength, edge retention, and resistance to lateral stress. The polished finish helps prevent rust, but regular care is essential: wipe and oil the blade after use to keep it in top shape.
Br. Ingo Makarius Weyer OblOSB –
Great carving knife. Even through hard wood (oak, beech) it cuts through like through butter.
It is lacking a sheath but a good craftsman can make it easily himself.
